For several years, our shop manager Kate of Hedge Witch Botanicals has been making the paper snowflakes and 3D paper stars customers can see in our shop windows, and after several requests for tutorials, we thought we’d share some of her favorite holiday DIY crafts!
Last week we shared an easy peasy tutorial to make miniature winter hats for a holiday garland or as bottle toppers, and these stars have even fewer steps! This is a project that can be done with your wee ones, but as it involves scissors, some adult supervision may be necessary.
Happy crafting, and we wish you all a sparkling holiday season!
You will need…
7 or 8 small paper bags
Scissors
Glue, gluestick, etc.
A stapler (optional)
Ribbon or twine
Step 1
Make an inverted T with your adhesive of choice on the FOLDED side of the first paper bag. Press the FLAT side of the second bag to the glue side. Repeat until the bags are glued together in a stack of 7 or 8, folded side to flat side, and allow to dry.
Step 2
Cut through the stack of bags so that you are left with a house shape.
Step 3
Carefully unfold all of the bags, being careful not to tear, and attach the two outer bags either with another glue T or staple in place (I found this to be easiest, as you don’t have to hold it together while the glue dries).
Step 4
Attach a loop of ribbon or twine and voila, it’s ready to hang!
