For many folks, November marks the start of holiday shopping, and we invite you to #ShopSmall with Chateau! In addition to participating in special events like the Herkimer County Arts & Crafts Fair on November 9th and Small Business Saturday on November 30th, we will be hosting regular shop hours right through the holidays! Shopping small, meaning supporting local and independent businesses, offers several key benefits for individuals, communities, and the broader economy:
Money spent at small businesses often stays in the local economy, creating a "multiplier effect." This means that for every dollar spent, more of it circulates within the community, supporting other local businesses and jobs.
Small businesses tend to offer more personalized customer service, as we rely on building relationships with our customers. This leads to a curated shopping experience!
Local and independent stores often carry unique, handcrafted, or locally sourced items that you can't find in large chain stores. We are proud to offer the work of White's Pottery, Queen Bee Jewelry, and Hedge Witch Botanicals, among other local and independent artists!
Small businesses are significant employers in many communities. By shopping small, you're directly supporting local jobs and fostering economic stability.
Shopping locally often reduces the need for long-distance shipping, minimizing carbon footprints and supporting sustainability. It's never been as easy or fun to be eco-friendly!
Truly, shopping small isn't just a transaction—it's an investment in the people, culture, and economy of your community!
For those planning a visit, our autumn hours will be:
Thursday - Saturday : 10 am - 5 pm
Sunday : 11 am - 4 pm
Closed Monday - Wednesday
We look forward to seeing you in the shop!
Susan & Dean
P.S. Please note, we will be closed Thursday November 28th. Thank you for your patience, & happy holidays!
