Introducing the Little Free Library at Chateau!
“Shall we begin like David Copperfield? I am born…”
Hello and bonjour! Welcome to the brand new Little Free Library at Chateau. Kate, the manager at Chateau, has always loved LFLs, a nonprofit, volunteer-led organization working towards a world where “all people are empowered when the opportunity to discover a personally relevant book to read is not limited by time, space, or privilege.” Thanks to her efforts (and some help from Susan and Dean!), the LFL at Chateau is now open!
And we’ve already had some wonderful support! In March, our LFL was one of group of LFLs nation-wide selected by Good Morning America to receive a copy of Jenny Jackson’s Pineapple Street, which you can find on the shelves now, along with many other titles. (Plus, we even have an *unopened* puzzle up for grabs— that’s right, no pieces missing!)
Stop by our location at Chateau (right next to the Cape Vincent post office!), accessible 24/7, and be sure to follow the Little Free Library at Chateau on Facebook and Instagram for updates on what you could be #currentlyreading!
Would you like to support our community endeavor? Drop off your new and gently used books, or gift us a book from our wishlist!
Free Download: The "Winter Sowing 101" Guide!
We had such a lovely time hosting the first of our in-store workshops last weekend! Gathering together in a cozy and intimate setting on a blustery winter day, attendees learned an easy and accessible method for seed sowing in the winter months. Led by Chateau co-owner and avid gardener Susan, guests participated in crafting miniature greenhouses for winter seed sowing using common household items. Want to learn how? Download our Winter Sowing 101 guide and start sowing your own seeds today!

Bonjour les amis!
We've been quiet since the holidays, but there has been plenty going on behind the scenes here at Chateau!
We knew when we purchased the late-19th century building on the corner of Broadway and Esselstyne that it would require a lot of work, and we have been in full renovation mode since closing the shop in December. As we look forward to the completion of some projects, we are now excitedly planning and preparing for our 2023 season!
While the storefront will remain closed until spring, we are offering #curbsidepickup for our local customers, and online shopping for friends near and far. Plus... [🥁🥁🥁] ...we are excited to share a new series of in-store workshops! Led by Chateau's co-owner Susan and shop manager Kate, these workshops are an opportunity to learn, connect, and create in our "off season" months.
First up is Winter Sowing 101, February 25 from 1 - 3 pm. Led in-store by Chateau co-owner and avid gardener Susan, participants will learn an easy and accessible method for seed sowing in the winter months. [Details & registration.]
Next on the calendar, our shop manager and the owner of Hedge Witch Botanicals Kate is hosting The Craft of Writing, an in-store workshop with author Shelby Cohen, on March 25 from 1 - 3 pm. [Details & registration.]
The fun continues in April with our DIY Wildflower Seed Cakes Workshop, April 22 from 1 - 3 pm, where participants will learn how to make wildflower seed cakes to promote pollinators and beautify our communities through native, non-invasive plants species. [Details & registration.]
And finally, the date we’ve all been waiting for… [another 🥁🥁🥁!] …the shop reopens for the season May 26th! Join in the celebrations Labor Day Weekend for our Grand Reopening. [Details.]
Until we meet again, we appreciate your support, and look forward to sharing another year on the beautiful St. Lawrence River with you!

Closing 12/23 for the Winter; Happy Holidays!
From our family to yours, happy holidays! As we reflect on another year on the St. Lawrence River, we are incredibly thankful for all those who have supported Chateau. As a small family business, we appreciate your patronage and goodwill more than you know!
We will be closing the storefront for the winter months at the close of business on December 23, to reopen in the spring. We will be unavailable from December 24, 2022 through January 9, 2023, and will not be processing online orders, responding to emails, or offering curbside pickup during this time. After a very busy holiday shopping season, we appreciate your understanding. We look forward to seeing you in the spring!
