With the start of a new season in the shop, we’ve updated our “One Item, Two Ways” series, now called “Our Favorite Things”—and spoiler, we’ll be sharing some of the things we carry that we couldn’t live without! We have so many new things in the shop this summer, and folks often ask what items are our favorites each season, but this one might surprise you.

Bonjour les amis! Thank you so much to everyone who came out for our grand reopening Memorial Day Weekend! The weather improved, and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces again, as well as many new ones! We are thrilled to offer some beautiful new collections in store this season—including French linens, enamelware, locally-made baskets, puzzles for the family, and more—alongside our popular classics, like pure beeswax candles, gourmet foods, White's Pottery, Queen Bee Jewelry, and Hedge Witch Botanicals…

As we prepare for our reopening, we have been reflecting on the unique history of this historic building. Chateau is situated on the corner of Broadway and Esselstyne Streets in downtown Cape Vincent, NY. Following the construction of the railroad to Cape Vincent in the middle of the 19th century, the village experienced an economic boom. Tourism in the 1000 Islands and trade grew the village, including our historic building, which was originally constructed in the late 1880s or early 1890s.

We are thrilled to announce our 2022 reopening!

With many planning spring brunches, we have a fabulous recipe to share, one that is a staple in our menu planning for its ease and versatility. Essentially a crustless quiche, the recipe was given to us many years ago by a dear friend, local artist Nancy Mossing— the namesake behind our “Nancy” & “Nancy’s Blue” glazes! We love using a White’s Pottery batter bowl to mix up the ingredients— it’s just the right size, and the spout makes for an easy transfer to our oven-safe White’s Pottery pie dish. We include a few easy variations on the base recipe, but invite you to experiment with your own. We are chuffed to share Nancy’s Brunch Pie with you, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
